cooking with ehc: honey bbq sauce
I don’t like when recipes don’t get to the point. So here is how we make our honey bbq sauce for Super Bowl party’s, Labor Day weekends or Fourth of July cookouts using Evans Honey. If you are a heavy dipper like me, this makes a generous serving for 1 person.
This recipe produces a smokey, sweet honey bbq sauce that tastes even better on the second and third day. If you don’t have molasses use 2 tablespoons of brown sugar instead. It may be a little sweeter, but you will need the molasses content from the brown sugar.
Ingredients
1 cup ketchup
½ cup honey
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 ½ teaspoon chipotle powder
1 ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Combine all ingredients for honey bbq sauce in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Bring sauce to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove sauce from heat and allow to cool.
Store in an airtight glass container for up to 2 weeks.
This honey bbq sauce is great on chicken, beef, pork, fries, or anything else. Enjoy.
